Japan : Day #2 – Friday the 13th almost FRIED me

-

I gave myself a scare last night!

All along, Friday the 13th was never a bad day for me…but until last night, I almost had the Osaka Fire Department jump out of their pajamas at 12am.

We came back late last night and being the tired asses we were, I was laden with stuff and had a little trouble lifting the bottles of water up on the table.

IMG_3164a

Little did I know, or remember, that all these barang were loaded right on top of the stove.

As I tried to stuff the bag of water furthest to the back, I thought I smelt something burning.

AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, EVERYTHING WAS SET ON FIRE.

Paper, plastic bag, tissue, was blazing like a barbeque pit. I wish I had a pic of it mannnn….but as camho as I am, i would be completely out of my mind to turn around, run into the room, grab the camera and come out and take a shot. I dare not think of what would happen if I did that wei. Parents and bro will be CINCAU HANGUS liao.

All I could snap was the remainder of the ‘barbeque’….

IMG_2763a

Almost kena bakar also can camho. With my aksi vacuum penuh gaya.

IMG_2770a

And I kinda toasted Mum’s next day breakfast. Sorry Ma.

IMG_3166a

So as if to compensate for last night’s mishap, I had the luck to stumble into a very interesting shop as we were walking in Namba area today.

  IMG_3003a

Round the corner and you will find…

Wah, I like Saturday the 14th   xD

Cheers!

Japan : Day #1 – The photographer in me

-

Wide lens wide lens wide lens! I’m going crazy! Ohaiyo Gozaimasu peoples yamateh!

Surprised that I’m blogging so soon after my previous post? I’m surprised myself too, but I found out know why. It’s because I have a camera with me kekkeke. I find that words come out easier if there’s pics to accompany them.

IMG_5228a

Besides, based on my personal experience that regardless on whose blog, if I see a paragraph of words more than 4 lines, my eyes will terus skip to the nearest picture. Heh.

So this is Kansai Airport. Although the name sounds like Kanasai, it’s actually better than that. A little too compact for my liking though. Then again, Japan’s all about getting the most done in the smallest amount of space or time right.

IMG_2106a

One thing really cool is the integration between Airport <-> Aerotrain <-> Terminal <-> Train to mainland <-> Subway. These Japanese think of everything.

Airport  -  connects  -  Train station

IMG_2116a

IMG_2137a

IMG_2147a

Then it directly connects to the subway.

IMG_2181a

Oh my wide lens make the subway look as wide as an aeroplaaaane weeeeee. Ok la too shiok sendiri already.

After an hour’s worth of changing 5 trains, lots of stairs, and hunting around for the hotel (complete with 4 bags of luggage), we finally checked into Weekly Mansion Otemae.

And it is EVERYTHING that I imagined a Jap service apartment would be like. Low ceiling, low door frame, cute sofa in center of living room, long narrow passageway, kitchen built-in to the side of the wall, two bedrooms, small but very cosy. Blending in to the local culture has never been this fun. The only thing missing is the Tatami mats lol.

IMG_2207aIMG_2212a

Osaka city is pretty much to my expectation of a metropolitan city. It’s bustling with activity, roads are busy, but the air actually smells clean. You can see buildings for miles, there’s hardly any dust in the atmosphere. It’s so clean that you wana set camp and sleep by the roadside for the night.

IMG_2228a

The sidewalks are usually loaded with little cafes. We stopped by this one for an expensive ~RM100 breakfast of 4 people’s pastries and coffee.

IMG_2240a

Taxies are INCREDIBLY expensive in Osaka though. The 45 minute ride which we took today after breakfast to the customer’s place cost us not RMB 30, nor RM 30,nor USD 30.

It cost us RM 300. FML man.

In some parts of the world, you can rent a nice sports car for a whole day with that amount of money.

The taxi we got was a simple one with nothing special in it. Nothing. Except that the windscreens are amazingly clean with not a single stain whatsoever, not even a dead bug. But who the hell pays RM 300 for a clean windscreen taxi you tell me?

IMG_2271a

But, there are a couple more interesting things about Osaka taxis which I’ll reveal later ;)

Dinner after a 4 hour meeting was at Shio Di Japanese restaurant, where I discovered Sake for the first time.

IMG_2333a IMG_2345aIMG_5346a

That kinda makes me a noob, but I’ve got nothing to complain if it was served by a cute waitress hehe.

IMG_5341a

Bokehlicious shots above are props to EGo’s camera. So I’m not the one snapping at the girls ok.

So after we we were sent back to our hotel for another whopping RM300, I realized 2 things about Osaka taxi drivers:

1.  Their dashboard at night looks almost like the car from ‘Back to the Future’ movie. This taxi has more screens than the ‘Operator’ in Matrix yo.

IMG_2350a

2.  All drivers wear gloves that 100% resemble Mickey Mouse’s gloves. Check out the driver’s glove on the above pic and compare with this one.

gloves

Oh, the cuteness. No wonder Disneyland is so popular in Japan LOL.

Be back with another update soon! G’night peeps….O-yucky kuda-misai!

Cheers!

I’m back….no, I’m off again!

-

This may come as no surprise to you.

I’m gona be overseas again, from tomorrow to 19 November.

But didn’t I just come back from China like a few days ago?? Ya la, when work calls, no choice. Either travel. Or get fired. So the first choice is surely safer….no choice but to jet around like a rockstar LOL.

And this time, it’s not India again.

DSC04717

And nor is it China again.

Hangzhou038_thumb

Instead, I’m gona be hanging out with Gwen Stefani………….punya Harajuku girls LOL.

harajuku3

Yeah babeh, I’m going to Japan!

Despite hearing stories all these years of how one must visit Japan, the only time I actually set foot there was in 2000. And that was only a 1 hour transit on the way to Los Angeles….I never got as far as the toilet door before I had to get aboard the plane again :/

And after 7 years of having a Toyota as a family car, 5 years of using a Sony compact camera, 1 year of using a Canon DSLR, and about 20 years of eating Sushi and Seasoned Seaweed, I finally get to visit the origin of all these stuff.

And it’s gona be fun because it’s winter, and girls are gona be dressed extra cute.

 f-Cute-Asian-Chick-2835stylishh

Or, maybe they dress like this the whole year around? Coz I couldn’t find pics of Japanese girls in winter clothes?

But what I do know is that I’ll be seeing lots of these. Harajuku is a rather strange culture. From Eye Bandages…

harajuku-pair

…to Red Angel Wings..

harajuku_girls

To the colors of the Olympic Rings….

   ss_harajuku_colours

….and …..a girl with an arm that resembles a penis. With a very sharp dick-head.

 cosplay

It’s a grotesque mixture of a-sexual characters with a sense of fashion that I may never be able to understand. I shall pay least attention to the above if I do see them on the streets. Rasa nak muntah wei hahaha.

I may not be able to hang out with them much, but what I can do, however, is to capture all that’s happening with my new toy, which I got for a few days already.

IMG_5180a

Wide Lens!! Omg finally!!

What you’re gona see next is a series of test shots…

Image_001

Omg I can squeeze so many things into 1 shot!

Image_002

Can even camho in the car!

Image_003

Can also make people look scary like this! LOL

Image_005

And it’s so easy to take Gan Bei shots now!

Image_004

Simply tembak also can masuk everyone….in fact the shot above is a little wide already.

Can you imagine how many Ayumi Hamasaki I can camho with when I’m in Osaka during the next few days.

IMG_1948a

Wah shiok.

I thought that being back for these 5 days (5 – 11th) would give me ample time to catch up on things, but I was wrong. All of a sudden, today’s already the 11th!

I do apologize to my friends whom I’ve not met for a long time. Before China, I thought I had lots of time to update, but it turned out to be a busy period. During China, I thought that when I came back, I could spend these 5 days catching up with as many people as possible. Ends up that didn’t happen either.

Paintball is something which I wanted to spend lots of time, but during China, I underwent a major priority reshuffling. Eventually, I came to a realization that I would have to be a let down to my Yakuza team (or already have). My work next year would involve a lot of shuttling between home and India, and to play for tourneys, I need time for both training AND tourney. Lack of either one would mean I might as well hang up my gear for good. And that, for now, will remain as an unanswered question…….

So when we touched down, @JoyLKChan picked us up. Thanks for the ride Joy! (Sorry la I know this pic is rather suggestive, but it’s the only one i got of you both) HEHE.

IMG00159-20091105-1957

On Friday, I met with the Salsa Cruise Asia organizing committee for the first time, at Plaza Mont Kiara.

IMG00167-20091106-2124

Sorry ah. Was taken with my phone so blur blur dei. I’m not allowed to publish photos of Salsa Cruise taken with the DSLR ….(yet). Hehe.

These people may be dressed in black but I can tell ya, they KNOW how to poser. Which makes a camho like me very happy. Ahaha.

Met up with Darynne Goh whose birthday bash was happening 5 floors below, at Bar Savanth. Happy 20th Birthday Darynne!

IMG_1692a

Why is a 20 year old celebrating her birthday in a 21-and-above-only club?? xD

On Saturday, Psychkin decided to spring me a surprise…

In the middle of Kota Kemuning…among industrial factory lots…lay a secret hideout of relaxation :

IMG00171-20091107-1515

I was booked in to a Herbaline Body Massage session!

The only thing was that there was a slight miscommunication…and instead of a body massage, this is what we both got:

IMG00178-20091107-1603

A Facial.

I gave considerable amount of thinking on whether I should expose the pic above, but hey, at least I’m not naked. And neither is my facial therapist. (Just don’t blackmail me with this very gay pic next time).

Also included in the package was a 10 minute Fish-Spa, of which the fish were unbelievably aggressive. I had a hard time keeping my feet in the water for more than 30 seconds….what the heck, did these garra ruffa grow teeth or what!

I had an even bigger surprise that day. After a couple of hours of hiding in Psychkin’s bag, I was presented my 27th birthday gift.

IMG_5203a

In addition to the Burberry watch that Wuxi gave me, I now have a Seiko time piece. I am loaded with awesome people in my life.

That night we caught up with Bevvy, Botakai & cousins, AhChay & Joyce for dinner at Klang Boston Baru…..

….and Bahkuhteh!

IMG_1719a

Damn man, must be my newfound China appetite. I’m scary lol.

Eh, I just noticed AhChay’s smile is HUUUUGGGE in this pic. The biggest smile I’ve ever seen on him.

IMG_1719b

Oh, just look at the folds down his chin. He’s trying so hard. LOL.

Sunday was the most bahagia day ever.

Reason #1

Image_002

Reason #2

IMG_1831a

1 crab ~ 1 kg. Ahhhh.

Monday was spent in office clearing my pending 2-month work pile off my table.

And Tuesday was spent collecting my Japanese visa.

The original picture was too handsome that the immigration decided they had to make the one on my visa look like a memorial stone. Fail man.

And now, with most of my work done and behind me, I’m ready to go!

Just don’t believe me when I say I’ll be updating more than usual. AHahaha.

So here a few last wide shots taken at Pyramid for ya before my flight later.

Sony Vaio X – Ultra Thin Net book Launch. Image_001 Image_002 Image_003

For a laptop that’s only 13.9mm thick, it sure packs a punch. It’s sexy and it costs only RM 5299 yo.

 IMG_1952a

Ohh the power of wide lens. Shiok giler. I’m happier than a puppy with a million chew toys.

By the way, I’m now part of the Blackberry revolution.appworld.blackberry.com_02

And if you’re crazy about BB Messenger like I am, add me at PIN # 213492D3, and I assure you I will leave you with no peace at night xD

IMG_5194a

Btw, the bokeh-ness you’re seeing in the earlier pics is thanks to EGo’s new lens. For RM1400, it’s such an awesome toy wei. Don’t go for F1.8 if you’re thinking of it. Sure regret xD

The only thing is now, I desperately need to know how to say ‘Blackberry’ in Japanese. Or that means no Twitter / BB messenger for another 9 days. Wuuuu….

Cheers!
