Behold, my new office toy! Hint : It’s a Canon

-

This is too awesome.

I have a new toy in my office! Not just any toy…but…a Canon toy. Wehehe.

I know what you’re thinking..I’m a camera freak and you would expect that this would be a camera thingy but, I’d hate to disappoint everyone (myself included) by confessing that it’s not a DSLR / lens / battery grip / camera accessory). Instead, it’s….

A Canon Laser Printer! The Laser Shot LBP 3050.

Dah lah I mentioned Office Toy, takkan camera meh. Hehe.

Throughout my 27 years of life, I hate printing..that’s a fact. I feel like a ton of bricks as I drag myself to load paper into the feeder..click ‘Print’..and pull my hair out in the following 3 possible scenarios:
1. Paper jam
2. Ink blotches
3. Printout misalign
And the worst case scenario : Mass printing (more than 30 copies).

I can go for lunch, come back and take a poop, and it’s still not done. (A little exaggeration, but yes, inkjet printers take a bloody long time!) And this situation is sometimes accompanied with Scenarios 1,2 or 3 above. *argggh pulls out more hair*

And these are everyday situations which we deal with. These kind of printers..not human use one!!

I suppose that with all the printers that I used and ended up destroying, it was a much more economical solution to use a laser printer.

noinkjet

Tell you lah, I didn’t know that desktop laser printers became so affordable suddenly. This baby I’m using now (LBP3050) costs only RM429. That’s just 100% more than bubble jet printers yo. And it is SO EASY to use, fast, problem-free. 1000% less headache I tell ya. Okay, that’s just a metaphor.

So let’s un-metaphor-ize and just put it to the real test k?

I print lots of drawings and it’s important that I don’t waste time + paper in reprinting. So for this experiment, I took a video of my now-old Canon IP1980 Inkjet printer and compared it to the Laser Shot LBP3050, while printing out this drawing.

It’s an ugly drawing lah. But the uglier it is, the better I can compare the quality, yes?

Btw, Canon printers are the bomb. I use the IP1500, 1700, 1800, 1980 and they are virtually problem free :) My previous investments were Epson and HP..and each one consumed an entire head of hair (from pulling). And for the past 3 years with Canon printers, I found peace. And my hair grew back again.

Check this out y’all.

Canon IP 1980 : 61 seconds per copy. (Gosh, I never knew)

Canon LBP 3050 : 8 seconds per copy = My new favorite printer :D

The 3050 is just a little bigger than a regular inkjet printer, comes in white, and sits quite elegantly at the corner of my table. Hardly space consuming.

This is the old Inkjet IP1980, in place of the LBP 3050.

The IP1900 and LBP 3050, side by side. Not a huge difference IMO.

So if you’re thinking of getting a desktop printer, and don’t have such a tight budget, getting the Canon Laser Shot LBP 3050 is an awesome idea. Confirm it’ll save ya LOADS of time. And hair too :)

Now I can only hope that my boss doesn’t fall in love with the printer and take it away from me for his OWN usage *guards printer jealously*

Laser Shot LBP 3050 for more details.
Cheers!

P.S.
If you wana go colour, there’s the Canon LBP 5050/N, which is a hefty extra RM 770. I wonder if it’s good enough to print RM100 dollar notes maybe one day I’ll try MUAHAHA.

Biotherm Race to Gain : Now I don’t have to shoot 50 Cent anymore.

-

Remember this banner ad that’s been popping up on random websites since year 2007?

Shoot-the-Rapper

The banner flash game that has Rapper 50 Cent walking up and down the red carpet, and where you’re the papparazzi who’s supposed to take ‘shots’ of him? The game that apparently causes blood to spurt out of ‘50 Cent’ with each successful click? And the one that apparently has $5,000 prize money up for grabs?

Shoot-the-Rappera

Well 50 Cent don’t gotta worry no more and can keep rockin ‘In da Club’ without getting over-clicked on his head because there is now a new game in town!

(Ooo, I can finally stop playing this game and accept the fact that there actually is no $5000 to be won. Or are the 5 free ringtones still valid? Umm..)

So, here you are, the new gila-clicker game, called Race to Gain.

image

It’s on Facebook by the way. What, not surprising what. Only ahpek like me don’t play games on FB but everyone else does wor.. Check it out here.

What got me really curious was that it’s a Biotherm Homme-inspired game. Biotherm and racing? Hmm. Click only.

image

This is getting more interesting by the click! My eyes went from –__- to $_$! Just..see this.

50 Cent I dont need to shoot you anymore!!

Finally, something bloody worth clicking.

I use just my spacebar and nothing else. Tarak pakai otak pun. Sometimes I wonder..why do these sponsors distribute cash like this…but really, I shouldn’t be complaining. I never complain about winning stuff :D Thumbs up to Biotherm Homme for trying out new media like this.

And here’s a snippit of how part of the game runs. I’m not gona spoil the fun for you, so you should check out the game here for yourself.

image

Especially when you’ve just had your lunch break and don’t feel like doing shit for work, this is perfect.

It took me 5 seconds to find out how the game works, and 15-20 seconds per round for 3 rounds. Based on the F1 season as its theme, this makes it pretty fun. Everyone knows about Biotherm’s quality products…it’s pretty high up on the price scale, so it’s DEFINITELY worth a try to win back some awesome stuff.

I’m so gonna try win some of those Biotherm products lor. I’ve been wanting see how my muka-tak-maintain reacts to it…Hence, I hereby surrender myself to devote full attention to playing this game hard (and gaining back something from it lol).

Click here to let the games begin. And win great products or tickets to the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix that’s just around the corner!

Update : apparently SmashpOp’s also into this game..check it out here.

Update #2 : My latest scores. quite fail lor. hmm…

30 Hour Famine…4th successful attempt!

-

I owe you guys a lot of updates!!

And to think that I’ve not been posting for only 1 week wei. Blogging is a quite a stress reliever, especially when the stress comes from thinking of all my pending posts  -__-   Ironic right. haha..! Wish we could do away with all these online stuff sometimes but ahh…that won’t happen for a long time.

Imagine if I don’t post for a month. I guarantee you 1000% I will go crazy.

So, first things first!

My laptop fan has died on me. I turned it on to find it extraordinarily silent one morning and I thought that the annoying rattling noise finally decided to go away. Turns out that the fan stopped completely and as a safety setting, shut off the whole pc.

So I sent it to the repair center at Midvalley, Northpoint. And I thought I’d get the touchpad checked as well, since it flipped upside down some time ago. Yes, if you move it left, the mouse pointer goes Right, and if you move it Up, the mouse goes Down. I tell you, it takes a LOT of brain power to adapt to a touchpad that works in reverse. So I asked to get that checked too.

My total bill? Came up to RM 426. Damn shit crazy expensive weeeeeiiiiii. The Labour cost is a bloody RM160! I send to Lowyat friend can get it fixed for 1 Hainan Coffee and Kaya Toast only la…!

But I finally decided to pay the RM426 la. I’d really hate the idea of an improper installation and anything failing if I go travelling with it. It’s a very bad idea to have your laptop fail on you while you’re in some isolated village in say, India.

My only consolation is that I sent it in early, before I continue happily using my ‘silent mode’ laptop and it goes on to fry something else, maybe the harddisk. That time ah, cost me $1000 to replace haha……

And the good news is it’s ready for collection tomorrow, oh joy!

—————————————————————————————————————————————-

Last weekend was the annual 30 Hour Famine that happened at Help College University (again), organized by Help Students & Lecturer (again), and emcee-d by Sucram (again).

The difference this time is, I was one of the official photographers for the event, along with EGo and Mae. I tell ya, this ‘Photographer’ tag allows me to go places man. Like a Passport that can enter 1000 countries.

Some quick pics! (No long story this time, quick update ma). Have to summarize kao kao lol.

30_Hr_Famine_09_001

Me & Psychkin were both volunteers this year and get a nice black shirt instead of the ugly white participant shirt. Muahha.

30_Hr_Famine_09_003

This is one of da best shots of the lion dance. But poor thing, only 1 lion solo show that day. I thought they normally came in pairs?

30_Hr_Famine_09_004

Mr Emcee in da houssssse!

 30_Hr_Famine_09_005

Earthquake!! This game drove everyone into a frenzy!

30_Hr_Famine_09_006

This year’s game is probably the funnest one yet. It features a ‘black market business arena’ and a ‘jail’ for punishment. 200% hilarious.

 30_Hr_Famine_09_007

With Leowazza and the 3 awesome good looking supporters of An Honest Mistake.

30_Hr_Famine_09_008

And they Rock!

 30_Hr_Famine_09_009

Celebrity crazy kids LOL. See if you can find Belinda Chee and Gary Yap from 8TV Quickie.

 30_Hr_Famine_09_501

The crowd at Bukit Jalil Stadium anxiously waits for the arrival of….

 30_Hr_Famine_09_502

Jaclyn Victor!!

30_Hr_Famine_09_503

Mr Something from Somewhere who can sing. Ahaha.

30_Hr_Famine_09_504

Beautiful Gates rocking the house! (again from last year)

30_Hr_Famine_09_505

The stadium lighting was so super that I didn’t have to use flash. Damn shiok.

30_Hr_Famine_09_506

Suki from Somewhere, who could also sing.

30_Hr_Famine_09_508

Daniel Lee, and some of the Famine volunteers and campers who were happily pulled up to stage to sing Heal The World.

A quick search on Daniel revealed a picture of him dressed in some clothes that I wouldn’t wana be seen dead wearing it. Wah damn Gay ah. Haha. Some wardrobe executives out there are So unkind lol.

PKOneMillionStar-GM010809-Danell-b

And the much awaited…..Guang Liang!!! (again from last year) He got off stage pretty quick though..didn’t sing the All Time Favorite ‘Tong Hua’ :(

30_Hr_Famine_09_509

30_Hr_Famine_09_510

30_Hr_Famine_09_511

And the ‘Most-Participants Award’ goes to none other than…..HELP University. With 1000 participants! (Why did I see not-that-many that day leh??)

 30_Hr_Famine_09_512

Last act and most anticipated act for the event…Ah Mei from Taiwan!

30_Hr_Famine_09_513

Besides her high-energy performance that drove the whole stadium, (and I mean the ENTIRE stadium was rocking with her, no joke), her efforts to reach out to the poor in India touched me inside. It’s very heart warming to see celebrities going out of their way to try to send a message to the world. It’s publicity, of course, but it’s positive.

If you ask me to go to India I’d probably say ‘Go for what? Got money ah??’ haha.

Buttttt…..I’m not all that bad geh. Psychkin and myself are proud child sponsors of a Little boy who is part of the Worldvision Child Sponsorship program. They even send us his ‘annual progress report’ periodically.

EV_cert0005

His name is Gornwarin Gaewloy, and we help to sponsor his school fees and schooling material. Pretty cool eh, for RM50 a month :)   Damn happy inside :)

EV_cert0005

Cute leh. Look like me or not?

Cheers!
