It’s been waaaaay too long since my last post..so this is it. The reviving post…after a 1 and a half months of blog hiatus!

And really, there’s no better way to fill it up than with Salsa pics. I got my trigger finger happy again tonight, given that it’s the birthday parteh of one of my salsa sifu, @jasontkb.

Me and Jason go back to the early days of Salsa Cruise, when I was a young Salsa Ciku last year.

Being of great advice and guidance to the world of dance to me, as well as living just 5 mins from my house, we hang out pretty often and I learnt many great things from him. One of which includes ‘Lau Zhap’ dance techniques, of which, for the sake of decency, I shall not reveal here.

Right, so the cake says ‘Happy Birthday No. 1 Slut with Love’..Phoebe was in charge of that, while I was (proudly) responsible for the 1 dozen condom plate decorations! Those should be ample supply for about a year, unless he decides to use them all tonight

Salsa birthdays always come with a special birthday dance. It’s customary that the birthday boy gets the whole floor to himself and dances with every single girl (or vice versa) at the club..it’s a pretty awesome custom, I must say

I must perfect my skills for the Salsa-orgy come my birthday in September. 1 more month should be good to sharpen my Lau Zhap techniques.

But after looking closely at the pic, I’m not so sure that I want it anymore.

..and don’t you find it somewhat scary that Jason looked the happiest in the last photo? haha..!

I’m getting in the lazy-to-post habit again. Help! *slaps self*

 

Recently, I got into the habit of taking pics with my BB instead of the DSLR.

I’ve become so lazy that I don’t even bring the DSLR to events anymore, even for the Relay for Life that happened in Bukit Jalil stadium last week.

 

@Ling_chan, me, @Kruel74, @loveykatz, @meiyingt, @smashpop, @nikicheong in my humble and modest opinion : probably the best looking people on the field. Out of a 4000-5000 crowd turnup that day…chehhh.

But I can’t help it lah. BB 9700 camera is too powderful. Even night shots turn out like this. Woh!

So you can understand my problem. Which is a good problem, since I don’t have to lug around a big-ass camera bag. And all that wading in the mud it made me kinda glad I left it at home. Hehe.

@spinzer shooting his own feet stuck in the mud…and from the looks of it, actually enjoying it. He stucked himself there for like 5 minutes. Sor lou.

 

 

During salsa parties, a picture taken with a DSLR actually looks mostly like this:

 

However, shooting with the BB during the salsa party last Saturday, even with flash fails. Like only 2 people dancing in the dark lol.

 

But still, DSLR comes in handy again, this time at the top of Broga Hill! (I know I complain about carrying a big bag around, so taking it all the way up a mountain kinda contradicts myself. But aiyah. That was a spontaneous climb on Wesak day lol)

Anyway, that was a summary of the weekend. I’m actually too lazy to write grandfather’s stories anymore..

 

First, I TWEET like it’s my drug. I tweet so much so that when it’s time to blog, I sit and stare blankly at the screen. Then I fall asleep and blogging tak jadi.

 

And that brings the 2nd reason, that blogging takes too much time, and having a couple of projects in hand, I’d rather spend the time peacefully taking a dump in the toilet. Sides, when I have a shit, I can tweet. But I can’t blog while having a shit lol.

 

Oh, one more thing I’m real proud of.

 

I’ve successfully converted Mei Qin/Rachel, Natalie, Benghan, Pei Yi into Salsa-kaki! Oh yeaaaaah.

Heya all!

 

Last weekend, I fell in love even more…..in dance.

 

It gives me great pleasure to tell you about Mad2Max 2010, the annual intercollege Hiphop competition that happened last Saturday at KL Dancer’s Association.

 

Organized by Help University College, Mad2Max was one of the most highly anticipated events that involved 11 insanely very hyper teams who could not sit still for 5 minutes!

The day started with a series of workshops and performances that ranged from Hiphop (Poppin, Lockin, Bboy etc), Fusion Belly Dance, Capoeira, Salsa among others.

I mean, the day session went great..really great..had there not been other dance events, going on at the same time >.< The R16 South East Asia Finals & Hip Hop Concert nicely sliced off some of the spectators..oh well. Like what they say, the show must go on!

 

Also very supportive of the event were sponsors like Digi, F&N, Celebrity Fitness, along with partners like Crocs.

 

One of my Salsa sifu, Tim Low emcee’d the event..and man, is he one helluva smooth talker. Any crowd of any size, he hits it high every time.

 

But next time, maybe somebody should remind him to lose the specs and put on some funky contact lenses..funky clothes..you know lah for hiphop, the required number of colors on a single body is at least 200 mah.

The turnup for the competition was pretty awesome.

Jarrel, MeiQ, myself playing with @Bboyrice’s fisheye, amongst other spectators who were thronging the area for some mad Hiphop action.

 

At this point, my camera ran out of juice..yes I forgot to charge battery the night before..I fail. It was OK though, since the official photogs were Feeq and Suresh…I was a shiok sendiri photographer that night only. huhu.

 

Mad2Max had a fantastic lineup of judges that night.

Bubbly, great looks and legs to match, and completely passionate about dance, I’ve never met a popular person who’s as sincere and down to earth…

 

 

…or as camho as she is. Hehe.

 

The judges’ scoresheets would decide the winner of the 11 teams, of whom at least 6 of them put up a rock solid show. But some of the other 5 teams in fact, actually, quite sucked. I sat through their performance wondering when it would end..seriously.

As far as I observed that night, judges make their call based on technique, variety, specialization and originality.

So if you do one of the following, you know that you’re screwed :

1. Try too hard to be funny.
2. Try to pull off 15 different styles in a routine.
3. Try to pull off only 1 single style in a routine.
4. Copy an MTV, or worse, copy it badly.

While the team points were being calculated, we were treated to a superb performance by CC and Alfred to Bryan Adams and Barbara Streisand’s ‘Finally Found Someone’.

And we were also treated to a surprise performance…that when it started, nothing else in the world mattered to me. Or to any guy who was there..

And the winner of the Mad2Max 2010 competition went to…Team. erm…Champion!

Seems like the Adam Lambert mojo does help earn some points too… hmm.

 

Kudos to the committee who were involved in this smashing event! Also to Psychkin, who constantly drove herself and me up the wall to make sure that everything went according to plan.

I bet you can’t wait to organize Next Year’s Mad2Max again baby. Muahahaha
